Invited Speaker for EMPOWERING WOMEN IN TECH: BREAKING BARRIERS, BUILDING SUCCESS,at America, JAKARTA, INDONESIA.
Truly honoured to be listed as speaker alongside with experts with Rebecca, CEO Saigon A.I Vietnam, Annie, Board Member of Microsoft Asia- Singapore, Dr Ayu, Head of AI, ITB and Ibu Dyah, a well-known Indonesian successful entrepreneur to give insight on gender bias in digital technology especially in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This event was attended by about 200 people in person and hundreds more online, which made me nervous at first.
I discussed my views on elevating data standards and ethical AI towards inclusive development via a collaborative network engaging many stakeholders. Then, I was given the opportunity to share the roles of FSDK and AIBIG Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) & initiatives in digital transformation, particularly for the east coast regions, as well as the eras of digital entrepreneurship and UMK as an entrepreneur university. At the end of my talk, I also shared with the audience about my involvement in Asean Microsoft's Code Without Barrier (back in 2021) and Asean Pacific Women Information Network Centre, APWINC Korea as instances of breaking the gender bias in AI and digital technology initiatives.
I may conclude that gender bias is a global social issue that stems from the 'nature' of various areas (for example, engineering hs been known dominated by male) and how male CEO/Expects/Leaders are always highlighted in comparison to women CEO/Expects/Leaders. However, in recent years, there has been an increase in the number of women in that particular biased-fields, as seen by a higher ratio of female students in the class.
